In Which I Hope You're Still Out There, Somewhere

Pompeii
Route: Norwich - Stansted - Rome - Pompeii
Kinky Friedman was magnificent. Sarah looked ravishing and Martin elegant at the wedding of the year. And I've had a funny, funky few days.. sort of besidetheseaside.. but sort of not. It's put a big smile on my face, but now I'm back on the bike and raring to go.
From Rome I hotfooted it south to the same campsite on the doorstep of the Pompeii ruins. This is A Good Thing in terms of the trip, as I haven't missed a centimetre of the Italian coast.
But it's A Bad Thing for my stomach as the pizza chef called in sick, so dinner tonight was a bar of milk chocolate and a box of Pringles. (Told you it was bad..)
I wonder if chef's absence has anything to do with Italy's vital Euro 2008 match against France? Hang on, I'll just go and ask him because he's sitting at the other side of the bar, beer in hand, watching the build-up to the game as I type this.
[PAUSE]
Yep, he's verrrrry ill and couldn't possibly work tonight.
Right, I'm off to watch the footie.
