In which I Am Brief & To The Point. For Once

Pompeii

Something of a day off today. It's just a bit strange, having a day off and not doing anything touristy, when yr tent is pitched two minutes' walk from the ruins of Pompeii. (I was tempted to write 'the greatest Roman ruins of them all' but I'll reserve judgement until I've worked out how to ride besidetheseaside through Libya to check out Leptis Magna

Having washed my smalls, checked out a small car & bike show in the car park of a local supermarket, taken a turn round the main square of modern Pompeii, contemplated a big church and several ice-cream vendors, had myself a beer, and a pizza, wondered how connected to the Comorra every man and woman I came into contact with was, watched some football, made friends with two other English tourists (aged 6 and 4), while failing to find anywhere with internet access and, err, having another beer, I fell asleep.

I need an early night and lots of sleep because I need to look beautiful this week..
