In Which I Eavesdrop

Cap D'Agde

So I'm sitting in a cybercafe in Cap d'Agde.

Two terminals down, an Englishman is having trouble connecting to Skype. I find him a set of headphones, the kid who's running the shop helps him to log on, and he's away.

It's a public place. I've spoken to him, so he knows I speak passable English. Although I can only hear his side of the conversation, I can hear quite enough. It seems the person he's speaking to doesn't talk very good English:

"We need to talk about how I can take care of you so you no need to work any more."

" --- "

"I need find money for you but it difficult because I not work at the moment."

" --- "

"I hope come back soon. I bring presents."

" --- "

"If you work now, it's OK. I not jealous. I understand. What we have together is very special. That is why I not jealous if you work when I not there. I know you only do it for money."

" --- "

"By the way, how is the weather in Thailand?"

Yuck!

Do you get emails from Facebook telling you how you rate in 'Compare People'? I do.

I learned this evening that, via a mutual friend, I am very similar to Rusty Egan:
"** strengths: most artistic, most confident
** weaknesses: most reliable, nicest"

I'm waiting for Rusty to point out his similarities to me on his website. But I won't hold my breath.

I'm also told that, like top glamour model Nina Boldt, my strengthes are that I am "hottest, most confident". I think Nina and I should get together to discuss our weaknesses...

I didn't touch the bike today.
