In Which I Spill The Beans?

October 4, 2007 by Mike

Vila Do Conde

Ha ha hee hee.. I know you've only clicked here to find out about my date ;-)

And the truth is.. I *am* a gentleman.. and a gentleman *never* spills the beans.

(Though I should point out that Vitor brought his GIRLFRIEND with him! That's the last time I go on a date with a man I've only just met!)

Apart from that line, Vitor provided me with a list of places to see on the coast: Espinho, Aveiro, Figuera Foz, Nazare, Ericeira, Cabo Da Roca, Guincho, Cascais, Lisbon, Arrabida, Sesimbra, Setubal, the ferry to Troia, Sines, Vila Nova Milfontes, Porto Covo, Odemira, Aljezur, Odeiejxe, Carnapateida, Sagres, Cabo Sao Vicente, Lagos, Portimao, Albufeira, Vila Moura, Faro, Tavira, Olhao and Vila Reas Santo Antonio.......

I could be here for some time.

Earlier in the day I visited a Dali exhibition at Freixo Palace, just south of Porto, together with the Museum of Printing and The European Cartoon Contest -- both of them right next door. The Dali could have been sub-titled "Bits And Pieces From His Lesser Known, Later and Not Quite So Exciting Period" -- no melting watches, plenty of sculptures of horses, lovely views of the river Douro from the upper rooms of the palace. The Print Museum was at least cheap, in its defence. The exhibition of cartoons submitted from around the world was fantastic. It's an annual event. I couldn't work out who exactly is responsible for it but they've done a grand job. Sadly, I was the only visitor, but that meant I didn't feel self-conscious about laughing out loud at the best cartoons.

I haven't seen any cows for some time. (It's the kind of thing you notice when you ride every day.)

So why has the European cow-sh*t mountain been dumped in the field next to the campsite? I live in dread of the wind changing direction when I'm trapped in the tent.
