A Bit More Business, But No More Biking.. Yet

May 1, 2007 by Mike

I haven't forgotten you, honest. Each and every one of you. (I think I'm related to most of you, after all.) But with thanks for many emails, txts and calls in the last few weeks, a brief update:

I'm still in Norwich, where Ma and Pa have had a difficult start to 2007. We've had some tough times and some good times and my being here has made it a bit easier for them. I'm very lucky that I've been able to do this.

Although, the warmest April *ever* has had me staring, with all the melancholy my half-Norwegian-ness can muster, at blue skies, open roads and my fellow bikers. It's perfect biking weather and I hardly dare even sit on the bike because if I do I'll start riding and won't stop 'til I get to the south of Spain...

My parents are as keen as I am that the trip will start again. They want to get rid of me, and who can blame them? I can't name a date (I tried that a couple of times, but life here has had a habit of getting in the way) but I should be heading back to the coast before too too long.

So that's the plan - no plan. Which is what the trip was all about to begin with.

I hope the sun is shining on you too.

Sorry to hear Ma and Pa are having a tough time. You'll get back on the road when it's time for you to get back on the road and no sooner (how's that for bullshit philosophy?).

I just led a ride of 40 scooterists from across the USA through San Francisco last week for a Modern Vespa Workshop. Check out my club's website for photos.

If you take long enough I may be able to meet you in Spain and ride part of the coast with you.

Hey buddy, I've been following your travels with interested since they started. I've been in a similar place to you by the sounds of it (have a look at www.davenicoll.com/fridge) and I'm telling you something you need to hear - get back on your bike TOMORROW. Finish your journey.

All the best,
Dave.

p.s. at the very least, take off before next week.
