Update on Friday 17 November

Gdansk

Greetings from Poland. And Gdansk which, when I get back up-to-date with the blo-- I mean diary, I'll be describing as one of the most attractive cities I've ever visited.

This is based on
1. arriving late, seeing the Old Town and staying way over my budget in a plush, central hotel
2. wandering through the Old Town in the half-mist, twilight and late at night
3. it not being Kaliningrad.

It'll take a couple more days to get up-to-date. I've been busy queueing to get into and out of Roosia, for a start. Oh, and losing my mobile phone. So:

If you've owed me a txt msg, now's the time to pretend you sent me one on Wednesday night, sometime between the phone going walkies and me cancelling the phone.

While I get a new phone organised (and probably a Polish pay-as-you-go in the meantime) you can always email me at mikewith [ at ] hotmail.com

By the way, when I woke up this morning the whole city was shrouded in cold, wet fog.

But when I woke up again an hour later (!) the sky was blue and the larks were a-singin'.

Hope your journey to work wasn't too stressful for you...

Dear Mike,
Have been following your travels with great interest.
I think you will have to enter Germany via Stettin as motorcycles and cars are not allowed to enter at Ahlbeck, at least that was the case in 2005.
Best wishes,
Alexander
